“Bags 101” by Steve Vanderveer

What cornhole bags are right for you? Why are some bags so expensive? Steve Vanderver talks about the current cornhole bag craze and what you can do to improve your cornhole game.

In it, he cautions you from falling for “as seen on TV” syndrome, i.e fighting to throw the same bags the pros use, falling for marketing gimics, etc. He says the best cornhole players would continue to win with corn-filled canvas bags because they have the qualities he calls the Four Ds: Drive, Dedication, Desire, and Diligence. Succeeding in today’s competitive cornhole scene takes a lot of work!

Steve says the two most important things when picking a bag are:

  1. That the cornhole bag be comfortable in your hand — whether you like a firm bag, or a floppy one, you need to feel confident as you line up and prepare to throw it.
  2. That the bag be consistent,  Whether it’s humid, stick, or bone dry and super slick, you need to know a cornhole bag will perform how you expect it to. You also need bags that work well in different environments.

Don’t take our word for it though, watch the video!

Few people know the game like Steve Vanderver. He’s been a top tier competitor for years, and is a true student of the game. He and his wife Jenn love helping people become the best cornholeplayer they can be.
