Blake’s Take on BG’s “Mercenary”

Reynolds has had a vice grip on the title “King of the Carpet Bag” for years now, but BG’s new Mercenary and Viking cornhole bags make it a more complicated matter that needs discussing!

I have been throwing Game Changers now for a few months, and I’ve had some good success with them. GameChangers are fine for sliding bags in and airmailing, but when it comes to blocking up the hole, this is where they struggle. In comes BG Mercenary. I’ve only thrown them a couple times, but they seriously might already be my favorite bags.

After using these for literally one whole day, I have nothing but compliments to heap on these bags. Not only do they feel like a Reynolds Pro X, but they are slightly larger when it comes to the in-hand feel, making them feel a little more “hole friendly.” The carpet side of the Mercenary has an even better feel than the Reynolds carpet, in my opinion. The last few months, I have really relied on my airmail when needed, but within just one day of using these bags, I suddenly developed a “flop-shot” and actually surprised many people when playing with them.

I had Reynolds users coming up to me asking to try them out because of how easy the flop-shot was to hit. Every single person that tried them out, loved them!

I admittedly haven’t managed to get my hands on a set of Vikings yet, but I have no doubt, this Mercenary is the bag I will be throwing for months to come.

Slow side speed: 4/10

Fast side speed: 9.5/10

Flop-shot capabilities: 10/10 (super easy to learn with these bags!)
